  • Strong research emphasis with 7 to 9.25 non-clinical research blocks per academic year
  • Opportunity to be involved with ongoing research protocols in the Department of Pediatrics and various Departments at the Medical and Graduate Schools at UTHSCSA and at a number of research facilities, including the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research, a facility housing the largest primate research colony in the United States
  • Option for Combined Master of Science in Clinical Investigation offered through the UTHSCSA General Clinical Research Center, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (K30).
  • Opportunities for joint fellowship support through the UTHSCSA Medical Hispanic Center of Excellence
  • Division and department support for scholarly development activities such as presentation of research at national and regional professional meetings
